Hornby's Pat Hartland, Jo Hill and Bev Diamond at the fours competition on the final day of the 35th Chartered Clubs National Women's Indoor Bowls Tournament.

Rotorua Citizens claimed the final title but Masterton Horseshoe Club were the best overall performers when the 35th Chartered Clubs National Women's Indoor Bowls Tournament concluded on Thursday night.

Hosted by the St Johns Club and played at Jubilee Stadium, the four days of competition in singles, pairs, triples and fours saw around 293 women competing from chartered clubs around the country.

The Thursday fours competition started with 61 teams and by 8pm it was the Rotorua Citizens team of Kristine East, Marge Taare, Adalene Hay and Pani Bryant who were winners, beating Timaru Town & Country's Lyn Brown, Mary Mealings, Jenelle Lockyer and Mavis Wederell in the final 13-6.

East's team won their semifinal 11-7 over Rangitaiki Cosmopolitan Club's Merleen Orr, Maureen Harris, Marie Lester and Allie King.

Brown's Timaru team won their semifinal 9-4 against the local Castlecliff Club's Jean Silk, Robyn Gracie, Lyn Austin and Jenny Hamilton, who was a drawn pool player.

The St John's Club four made it to the final eight of the grade.

Once all the performances from the week were added together, the Aggregate Trophy went to the Masterton Horseshoe Club in Janice Leighton, Marilyn O'Neale, Elva Simonsen and Dale Stanton.

The mother and daughter team of Simonsen and O'Neale had won the pairs title, beating their two fellow club mates in the final, while Leighton joined Simonsen and O'Neale to make the semifinals of the triples.
