Marton store sells winning Lotto ticket

Someone who bought a Lotto ticket at Marton's New World supermarket has won a third of a million dollars.

Three winning First Division tickets were drawn on Wednesday evening. The win has been posted on Facebook but at midday on Thursday the winner had not yet claimed their prize.

Marton New World owner Brendon Shoebridge was rapt with the news. He's hoping the winner is a local.

"It's not me, unfortunately."

The win is the store's biggest in the three years he has had it. Staff are grinning, and waiting to see the prize claimed.

"There's definitely a buzz about it. It's absolutely great that we have had a win instore."

Anyone who bought a ticket at the Marton store should write their name on the back of it and check it immediately - either at a Lotto outlet, online at mylotto.co.nz or through the Lotto NZ app.

Wednesday's other two First Division prize tickets were bought in Katikati and Te Anau. Powerball was not struck, and has rolled over to make a $35 million jackpot for Saturday night.
