Harley Whitford, 12, and his school mate Natalia Rees, 11, from Marton Junction School say the reality of how people chuck out in their rubbish has horrified them.

"I thought everyone was like my family and recycled stuff - you know like paper, glass, plastic and things,'' said Harley.

"Our family thinks about what to do with rubbish too,'' said Natalia.

A week ago they were taken with their classes to the Marton recycling and transfer centre. There they saw how so many people just threw everything and anything into their rubbish.

"I hated seeing that,'' said Harley.

Their two classes took plastic rubbish just from their class rubbish bins and were shocked at how much they had.

They stapled it all on the wall and have made a huge collage in their classroom.

The two said they are going to study reusable rubbish for the rest of the term.

"The world needs to know that throwing plastic stuff anywhere is so bad,'' they said.

"We are always talking about it now because we have to make a difference,'' Natalia said.
