A luxury lodge near Ohakune built with $500,000 stolen by a former IHC fundraising manager is for sale.
Bayleys real estate is handling the mortgagee tender of the Ahuru Lodge, which was established on a private country estate close to Tongariro National Park in 2009.
Tenders for the property close on September 9.
Lynn Fiebig was found to have siphoned up to $590,000 from the charity and used the funds to build the five-star lodge.
Between October 2006 and May last year, Fiebig created 74 invoices from three bogus companies to obtain the money. She was sentenced to three years' jail in March.
The IHC disabled person's charity lost a fifth of its fundraising revenue for the year and had to suspend services.
Spokeswoman Philippa Sellens said IHC was "relieved" the property was on the market, but it wasn't expecting to retrieve the full amount of its losses.
"We're not involved in the sale process as we have no legal ownership of the lodge.
"And we are aware that there are several creditors who are entitled to money before IHC," Ms Sellens said. "We are relying on other parties to help get our money back and we are keeping in contact with them."
Westpac is selling the property.
Ruapehu District Council files show the lodge had a valuation of $720,000 in 2008, but it is expected to sell for much more.
The architecturally designed part two-storey lodge has 598sq m of floor area and is set on a 1.08-hectare site next to the Tokiahuru Stream.
Views from most of the lodge's windows take in Mt Ruapehu and native bushland.
It offers four guest suites, each with a lounge area, private deck and ensuite.
A commercially fitted entertainer's kitchen has also been set up to cater for lodge guests.
