Voting in Whanganui is slower than last election. Made with funding from NZ On Air.

With voting for local body elections almost over, voter turnout in Whanganui, like the rest of the country, is less than last election.

On Friday morning 40% of votes had been returned and there was a steady trickle of voters throughout Friday.

In Whanganui there is no mayoral race, which may lessen interest in the election for some voters.

Local Focus took to the streets to see what people had to say about the election. Some voters are last minute and some were not voting because they are unhappy with the system.

Votes can still be cast from 9am to 12pm Saturday morning at Whanganui District Council offices.
