LONG HAUL: Action from the 8km race of the Winter Series on the Whanganui River last month.
Tomorrow will be the last and longest race of the monthly 2014 Winter Series on the Whanganui River.
The 9km course starts at the Aramoho Rowing Club's finishing line and will finish opposite the National Library building.
A number of waka crews have all registered early to compete.
Once again, the August 8km race was won by senior masters waka paddler Anne Kauika, whose prognostic time was only 0.3 per cent better than AWRC's masters F Grade doubles team of Trevor Rush and Richard Brock. It was a reversal of the July race, where Rush and Brock teamed with Rush's daughters Steph and Jacs to win on prognostic.
For tomorrow's race, Jacs Rush said it will be the last hitout for the veteran competitors before the NZ Masters Rowing Champs on Lake Karapiro, near Cambridge, on September 20-21.
