A Taihape man who is accused of putting fireworks under a kohanga reo van also faces charges of threatening to kill and intimidation.
Shadrach Katipa, 21, appeared in the Taihape District Court this month.
Charging documents allege he "placed a firework under a transport facility namely the kohanga reo schoolvan" with reckless disregard for the safety of the occupants, and it was likely to "cause danger" to them. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 14 years' imprisonment.
Other charging documents allege Katipa "alarmed" a complainant with intent to intimidate them by discharging a firework, and "delivered to members of the public an explosive device" with reckless disregard for their safety.
He is also accused of carrying a knife in a public place and threatening to kill the earlier complainant.
