The South Island Indoor Bowls team proved too strong for Wanganui with a 35-13 victory in the fifth matchup of their North Island tour on Sunday evening.

South Island won all three rounds by similar scorelines of 11-5, 13-3 and 11-5 at Jubilee Stadium.

The first round saw them victorious in the women's pairs and triples, while the men won the singles, pairs and triples.

Wanganui won the women's singles and men's fours, while the women's fours was a draw.

South Island increased their lead with a strong second round and then cemented the win in the last round.

Their women's pair, men's singles and men's pairs were unbeaten.

Wanganui's best was the women's four of Sue Hackett, Barbara Gonsell, Karen Lawrie and Ann Kendrick, who picked up two wins and a draw.

South Island had come into the meeting with a 3-1 record from their previous tour matchups, beating North Wellington/Horowhenua, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa Bush, while losing narrowly to Upper Hutt Valley.

They will continue their tour this week before it culminates against North Island on Saturday in the 37th annual Kevin Eddy Memorial Trophy clash at Rotorua's RGHS Arena.

Women - Singles: Caroline Braithwaite bt Maria Klitscher 9-12, 11-8, 13-9; Pairs: Ann Graham (s), Jenny Eden bt Lorna Sorensen (s), Joan Raymond 15-4, 20-1, 15-5; Triples: Alanna Preddy (s), Marilyn Holmes, Carolyn Cooper bt Barbara Bull (s), Robyn Osborne, Lyn Austin 7-5, 8-8, 6=6; Fours: Ann Cottrell (s), Marie-Therese Hooper, Kathryn Edgar, Deanne Osborne lost to Sue Hackett (s), Barbara Gosnell, Karen Lawrie, Ann Kendrick 4-4, 3-7, 2-8.

Men - Singles: Mike King bt Gavin Scrivener 9-8, 10-9, 11-6; Pairs: James Sullivan (s), Brandon Williams bt Warren Freeman (s), Lindsay Bourne 10-5, 13-6, 11-6; Triples: Michael Lawson (s), Brian Hotton, Daniel Sinclair bt Cary Pinker (s), Warrick Pinker, Craig Bourne 10-8, 14-8, 4-13; Fours: Hayden Warnes (s), Matt Markham, Giovanni Persico, Chris Moffitt bt Brendon Kenny (s), Les Heyward, Garth Lyne, Dennis Hurley 4-8, 7-1, 13-3.
