They tried some good fundamental attacks, but that did not translate into balls striking the wood at the back of the goal.
The Tech College Old Boys women's team were disappointed to be beaten 3-0 by the High School Hockey Club Rebels in the only local game of the ManawatuLeague on Saturday.
Having narrowly been beaten 2-1 by the Rebels a fortnight ago in their last encounter at the Gonville Domain, TCOB had a full lineup with four reserves and brought a bit of confidence into the clash.
However, co-coach Ian Glenny said while the team used the full width of the field and there was some good transition in the halves, they did not capitalise on their chances.
"It was definitely a game [where] there was some things we did very well, and some we didn't do very well at all.
Despite their lack of success, especially compared to the inaugural 2013 side that made Division 1's Top 4 in their debut season, Glenny said he was pleased 'Techno's' team culture remains strong, with both teenagers and players in their 30's playing at this level for the first time.
"I would have expected cracks to appear and people falling out with each other.
"But if you look in the second half [of the season] it's much more positive - scoring more goals and conceeding less."
