"From 5.32pm we have live greyhound racing with an estimated stakes pool of $30,000."

This evening's race card gets underway at 4.48pm with the Adept Accountants Wanganui C5 being the main open class event (Race 10, 8.56pm).

There is a degree of anticipation surrounding the race, owing to the talented Karen Walsh-trained Thrilling Raider drawing trap eight.

This bloke is a determined railer therefore his tactics when racing into the first turn is likely to dictate the early racing passage of those drawn on his immediate inner.

He won his only previous 520m race here in an okay 30.08s and he returns after his solid last start second to Bigtime Paddy in the Manawatu Cup.

Incidentally Bigtime Paddy commenced his campaign for his crack at the $600,000 Melbourne Greyhound Cup with a 515m debut outing on the Sandown Park track in Melbourne last night.

Me Jane scampered to a 30.16s 520m win here last Friday.

The Lisa Cole-trained winner of six of her seven Hatrick outings won that race from trap seven and she'll have to jump smartly from the same trap to avoid a likely incoming Thrilling Raider.

Kennelmate Bigtime Levi is in serious current form having stylishly won his latest Manawatu 457m assignments.

He holds sound winning claims in this event.

As usual, Cole prepared-chasers dominate the Liquorland Wanganui Race 5 open class 305m sprint (6.26pm).

Bigtime Opal has dashed to victory in her last four 305m sprints here. Kennelmate Bigtime Stu has drawn ideally in the ace trap.

The Walsh trained-Danny Lee won his 305m track debut in 17.32s two weeks ago.
