It's an interesting field of greyhounds who will contest the main Happy Birthday Dianne 520m event (Race 9) at the Hatrick Raceway on Friday evening.

As expected, the field is dominated by chasers from the powerful Lisa Cole kennels, who after Wednesday's racing had trained a staggering 220 winners for the current season.

Two greyhounds from the kennel, who has endured luckless recent races, can feature tonight.

The talented Allegro Gun will look forward to making his return to this venue.

He has been contesting strong recent Manawatu 457m races where racing luck completely deserted him.

His last Hatrick outing saw him dashing to a stylish 30.03s win in the 520m.

Me Jane went into last Friday's feature 520m event as the winner of all six of her previous Hatrick races at that 520m.

She made a costly early mistake at trap rise which led to her enduring an impeded racing passage when going into the first turn.

She receives an opportunity to redeem herself here.

Bigtime MacDaddy secures the draw advantage via the one trap, while the in-form Bigtime Vanessa takes a step up in class after delivering sound recent lower grade efforts.

The Group 1 winner Spare Some Time has been displaying early pace in his recent Manawatu 457m assignments.

There are two greyhounds in this field who can deny Cole-trained greyhounds' full occupation of the post race podium.

Mila Mila was real brave last Friday when she attempted to lead last week's field all the way for her trainer Angela Turnwald.

She was run down over the concluding stages.

Mila is a likely improver from that outing and she can make things interesting here by adopting those same racing tactics here.

On the other paw, the Bill Hodgson-prepared Nitehawk Rose employs a completely opposite racing style.

She generally settles within the rear group of her fields from where she unleashes a powerful finish.

Rose did exactly that in last Friday's 520m event, when she flew into third.

Last Friday's feature 520m event was strongly won by the promising youngster Bigtime Levi for Cole.

His win provided him with an exemption of having to contest the November 2 round of heats for the $100,000 Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup.

Bigtime Levi can now advance directly into the NZ Cup semifinals, which will be decided at the Addington Raceway on November 8.
