It is a rare Friday afternoon meeting at Hatrick today owing to the big-ticket group races at the Addington Raceway tonight.

Evening racing returns here next Friday.

The Quaddie still starts on Race 9 at 2.33pm where the potential anchor is Popsome Tags as he attempts to make it five straight wins.

His previous winning times suggests that he can do it.

The biggest danger to him appears to be Monday's Manawatu 375m winner Lost In Light, along with the current in-form sprinters Bolt Rama, Chocdee Alice and Waterbug, who led throughout from the ace trap last week.

Waterbug leaps from the same box today.

Leg 2 sees the clash between a couple of smart last-start winners.

The current New Zealand Oaks title holder Royal Runner cut out her 520m assignment last Friday in a handy 30 seconds flat and drawing trap one enhanced her claims today.

Kennelmate Indiana Izmir trekked north to Manukau last Sunday where he was a stylish winner of the feature 527m race.

What's Up Gee and Mammy Brown both have early pace, while Way To Crude is likely to be sighted charging home late.

The third leg sees the appearance of the ultra-consistent sprinter Run Lacey Run, who can regain winning form after Hatrick and Manukau minor placings last week.

Bee Rabbit has been delivering competitive recent sprints, while Belkara adds interest to this 305m dash returning from an extended spell.

On to the last leg where last Friday's smart 17.36s winner Exponential Lily is poised to strike again.

However, he isn't the most reliable from the traps, so consider visiting littermates Rotovegas Rara and Rotovegas Junior as the cover options.

And don't be surprised if the pair drawn the inside two boxes - Wild As Angels and Sweet lies - are finishing strongly.
