The charge into the first turn will have a major influence on how tomorrow main The Rock 95.2FM open class 520m event (Race 10) will be decided at Hatrick Raceway.

The key runner here is Bigtime Wendle from the powerful Lisa Cole kennels.

There is no denying her ability, however the concern for her and other rivals is this known wider running greyhound drawing trap one.

Almost certainly she will move or at least try to push her way out towards the middle of the track.

So who, if any, will she hinder when making that outwards movement?

Most vulnerable is Bigtime Wendle's adjacent drawn kennel mate Bigtime Tears.

Now, she has pace – at times real serious early pace as we saw when she delivered her slippery 29.84s Group 1 520m win here in June.

Using that asset can see her leading into the first turn and in doing so, placing herself into a strong winning position.

Now here's another sound-looking scenario.

The Angela Turnwald-prepared Nature's Gent isn't a known fast starter.

That factor can play into his paws when he exits from trap three here.

It's likely the inside pair will lead him out, therefore allowing Nature's Gent – the current New Zealand Cup title holder – to take up his favoured rails racing position.

From there, he can use his known strength at the business end of his races to snatch the win.

Nature's Gent's last two races have yielded him 457m and 520m second placings in Group race finals.

That's seriously good looking form for this event.

Okay, so what about the others?

Idol Tom is an absolute minor placing specialist for his conditioner Marcie Flipp.

It was 16 races ago when this bloke attained his open class chasing stripes. He hasn't won a race since then.

Idol Tom has placed second or third in 11 of those 520m races, including two at Group 1 level.

Watch for him to again be sighted charging home late.

Local trainer Brian Marsh produced Tyson's Quest to lead last Friday's version of this 520m race all the way when he claimed his 30.12s win.

In doing so, Tyson's Quest fended off the late challenge lodged by the Turnwald-trained Arden Emgrand, who is a race rival again here, by a head margin.

Tyson's Quest must use those same healthy pace-making tactics again.
