Hatrick Raceway takes a break as tomorrow's greyhound action sees an eight race card being hosted by the Palmerston North GRC, which is a dual code meeting with harness racing at the Manawatu Raceway.

The meetings are all part of the City of Palmerston North Festival of Racing, with the thoroughbred code holding their premier meeting at the Awapuni Racecourse on Friday.

The feature greyhound event is the $28,000 City of Palmerston North Golden Chase (Race 8), where two greyhounds match their paws in four 457m enticing match ups, while racing against the clock.

It is exactly the same format that was used for the Amazing Chase held at Hatrick last July, which was brilliantly won by Bigtime Paddy.

Traps 1 and 3 will be used for all matches, while the greyhounds will carry the normal racing vest colour associated with their TAB numbers.

The win dividend will be declared on the greyhound who posts the quickest 457m time, while the exotic dividends will be paid according to the race times recorded in descending order.

Six weeks of qualifying over 457m has brought together four absolute intriguing match ups. Here's a look at those.

Match 1: Robson was the eighth fastest qualifier with his 25.90s clock.

He's a promising up-and-coming chaser has who run competitive Cambridge 457m times.

Fusion Cronulla forced her way into this event via her tidy 25.87s solo trial. This matchup is a 50-50 call.

Match 2: Blazin' Carter owns fair amount of early pace which this dual Group 1 place getter must use from the get go. He returned a 25.89s trial clock.

Ask King Jeff was the quickest qualifier with his 25.78s time. This format of racing ideally suits this strong finishing chaser.

Match 3: All About Space will be rapt that she's drawn the rail, as she's likely to quickly push forward along it. She booked her place here via her 25.87s gallop.

Bigtime Levi will relish jumping from the outside here as this 25.89s qualifier is generally sighted finishing his races strongly down the middle of the track.

Match 4: What a fascinating matchup this is, as both greyhounds returned the second equal qualifying time with their 25.83s gallops.

Big League Diva has been freshened and that suggests that she's likely to step smartly and hold the rail.

Pinny Mack is a vastly experienced greyhound at the elite level who has been nicely guided through this series by his trainer. He gives the impression there's further improvement in him for this assignment.

The normal Friday evening greyhound meeting will return to Hatrick next week.
