The Hornby Workingmen's Club pair of Andrew Ataere and Young Pyo Hong dominated the field to win the 39th Clubs NZ Pen Hawkins Rosebowl National Men's Pairs tournament yesterday.

Ataere and Hong came into the final round with a 14 shot lead on their nearest competitors in the 102 team field, which was three rounds of stableford.

Taking their turn to tee off in the late morning at the Castlecliff Golf Club, the outcome was known well before the end of the day's play, as the Hornby ultimately won by 16 shots.

Tied for runnerup were two Castlecliff teams in Ken Read and Jeff Vigenser, along with Richard Lane and Scott Lett.

The prizegiving was held at the St Johns Club on Thursday evening, as tournament was part of the celebrations for St Johns 125th Jubilee year.
