Get your running - or walking - shoes on, it's time for the Property Brokers Round the Bridges again.

The 38th annual Round the Bridges fun run will be held on Sunday, May 17, giving participants the opportunity to walk or run 5km or 10km.

Wanganui Property Brokers is the principal sponsor of the event for the fifth year in a row and branch manager Philip Kubiak said a lot of his staff were taking part.

"Working in real estate can be 24/7 so it's good for us to take a bit of time out every now and then.

"Round the Bridges is a great event for people of all ages - walking, in particular, makes you feel good."

Mr Kubiak said Property Brokers' sponsorship enabled the event to be organised, as well as take care of the marketing and promotion.

"It's a big event for our community and we like to support our community."

Organiser Bronnie Taylor said that, as well as Property Brokers, many local businesses had come on board with prizes and other support.

She urged everyone to get their tickets early to save hassle on the day. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children, and can be purchased from the Wanganui Chronicle, Property Brokers, More FM and Sport Wanganui.

Meanwhile, Rachel O'Connor from Sport Wanganui has organised training walks for those planning to take part.

"It's a chance for people to get out and have a walk during their lunch break," she said.

Everyone is welcome to take part - meet at Property Brokers on Taupo Quay at noon every Friday.

Mr Kubiak encouraged everyone to come and join in the fun on May 17.

"Last year we had up to 2000 people and we want an even bigger event next year."
