The seminar is on Monday, September 10.

A speaker from the Retirement Commission will be in Whanganui to deliver a free, community seminar, Thinking of living in a Retirement Village?, next month.

The seminar is described as "a must-attend event" for anyone thinking about becoming a retirement village resident.

The commission is a neutral crown agency and the seminar will concentrate on the personal, legal and financial implications of becoming a resident.

About 12.5 per cent of 75-year-olds already live in retirement villages, and the commission's aim is to help people understand the implications and make the right decision.

The seminar is free but people need to register to attend for seating and refreshment arrangements.
