Football Whanganui came agonisingly close to their second competition point in the GR Engineering Women's Federation League after they were denied a battling draw against Moturoa AFC in New Plymouth on Sunday.
"They scored in the 92nd minute for the winner," said Whanganui coach Symon King of the match atthe Onuku Taipari Domain.
"For 80 minutes, we were on top - moved the ball well, created chances.
"The last 10 minutes the dynamics shifted, we had an injury we had to take off, left us a winger short."
Moturoa worked forward in injury time and nailed a header into the goal which Whanganui could not have stopped for 1-0, giving the home side their sixth win of the season and preventing Whanganui from getting the confidence boost of a second draw.
