Whanganui rowers have secure five spots in the upcoming Rowing NZ junior trials at Lake Karapiro.
There were 43 triallists named for the New Zealand Junior trial – 21 girls and 22 boys – among them Wanganui Collegiate's Jamie Harris and Jonte Wright.
Wright claimed bronze in the Under 18Boys single sculls while also winning silver in the double sculls Loftus Stanford at the 2018 Aon Maadi Cup and NZ Secondary School Rowing Championship regatta, held at Lake Ruataniwha a fortnight ago,
Harris was the stroke in the bronze medal-winning Under 18 Girls coxed four.
In addition, three more locals have been named for the 2018 North Island vs South Island Under 18 trial – Collegiate's Catherine Pearce and Blake Hogan and Whanganui High School's Niamh Monk.
Pearce was also in the coxed four boat with Harris in Twizel.
Hogan, who was not on the original list but invited and confirmed a few days later, won Whanganui's only gold in Twizel with Leo Hanna in the Under 16 Boys double scull.
Monk made the A Final of the Under 17 girls single sculls in Twizel, while also competing with the coxed quad sculls crew which came fourth.
