Portraits is a group exhibition by members of the Wanganui Arts Society at their gallery in Trafalgar Place.

Some artists have drawn or painted their own likenesses and one family have painted and drawn portraits of each other.

Arts Society member Rei Hendry said John Singleton had painted an interesting aunt of his who was an intrepid traveller.

Lyn Lyne has a portrait of her mother and other family members and artist couple Richard and Doreen Cotgrove have painted each other's portraits and there is a special carving that celebrates their 40 years of marriage.

Visitors to the exhibition can have their own portraits done in pencil, paint or pastels if one of the artists is in attendance.

Portraits: Cooks Gallery, Trafalgar Pl. Open Saturdays 10am to 3pm and Mondays and Tuesdays from 10am to noon until October 31. Call 06 3457757 to arrange a portrait sitting.
