Emergency services are responding to reports of an aeroplane crash in Taranaki.

Police confirmed they were alerted to a microlight plane crash in Stratford about 11.45am.

Flint Rd is now closed while emergency services respond.

“Any update will be issued proactively,” a police spokesperson said.

The Stratford Aerodrome and the Taranaki Gliding Club are on Flint Rd.

Club member John Tullett told the Herald he was unaware of any incident nearby as he and the chief instructor were at a gliding competition in Matamata.
