Person in serious condition after emergency incident in Feilding; neighbours report gunshots

Police say they were advised at 4.15pm that ambulance staff were with someone who had been injured on Collins Crescent, Feilding.

One person is in serious condition after suffering what appears to be a gunshot wound in the Manawatū town of Feilding this afternoon.

Police said they were advised at 4.15pm that ambulance staff were with someone who had been injured on Collins Cres.

Neighbours near the scene have reported they “heard what sounded like two gunshots”.

A police spokesperson said officers are working to establish the circumstances leading to the man’s injuries and believe they were sustained at another location within Feilding.

“At this stage, no specific concerns are held for the wider public and residents can expect to see a continued police presence in the Feilding area as officers undertake further inquiries.”

A spokesperson from St John said it was notified of the incident at 4.12pm.

It sent an ambulance, rapid-response vehicle and a manager and transported one patient to Palmerston North Hospital in a serious condition.
