Driver reported speeding before crashing on railway tracks on Rangitikei St, Whanganui East

A car crashed on railway tracks near the intersection of Rangitikei St and Eastown Rd on Saturday.

A speeding car crashed on railway tracks on Rangitikei St, Whanganui East, on Saturday.

A police spokeswoman said it was reported that the driver sped up to the train tracks between Talbot St and Eastown Rd about 6.05pm on Saturday and crashed on the tracks.

The driver was taken to Whanganui Hospital for a check up.
