Mads Lynsgie, left, and Anders Jacobson are the latest coaches to arrive from Denmark to train gymnasts at the Wanganui Boys and Girls Gym Club.
The strong relationship between the Wanganui Boys and Girls Gym Club and a Danish gymnastics academy was further cemented with the arrival of two international coaches.
Anders Jacobsen and Mads Lyngsie are recent graduates from the prestigious Ollerup gymnastics academy in Denmark and are eager to share their experience andknowledge with the gymnasts at the Boys and Girls Gym Club.
"After my stay at Ollerup I've got a lot of inspiration and I am looking forward to using all my new ideas," 21-year-old Lyngsie said.
"I really like the atmosphere at the Wanganui Boys and Girls Gym Club, everybody has just been so nice and kind to us. I enjoy working with the gymnasts, they have impressed me with their talent and discipline."
Tweny-five-year-old Jacobson has noticed a difference in gymnastics in New Zealand compared to his homeland.
"The gymnastics here is a bit different from Denmark. We do more performance gymnastics than New Zealand, but it's nice to learn new things and show the children what we do in Denmark."
Jacobson has experience in performance gymnastics that includes teamgym, tumbling, rhythmic gymnastics, and modern gymnastics and a little bit of artistics thrown in. He has been coaching teamgym gymnastics for five years.
Lyngsie has been involved in gymnastics from a young age. He has experience in tumbling and teamgym gymnastics, and has been coaching for six years.
The Wanganui Boys and Girls Gym Club has a long tradition of hosting Danish coaches at the club, while Ollerup reciprocates by hosting gymnasts from the Wanganui club.
"We are very lucky to have Anders and Mads here, they have brought fresh ideas and inspiration to our classes," club manager Julie Holden said.
"The gymnasts love getting to know them and learning about gymnastics in Denmark." Jacobson and Linsgie arrived in Wanganui at the end of August. They plans to stay in New Zealand until April/June next year.
