As well as the serious competitors, the weekend will also cater for social cyclists with the Sunday being about fun rides.
Starting at 9am from Cooks Gardens, the Wanganui Gran Fondo is a 125km course through the valleys and hill country of Wanganui and Rangitikei.
A relay change can be made at Hunterville for riders entering as a team, while there is also a 30km short ride option.
There is also Kiwi Kids Cycling inside Cooks Gardens, mustering at 11am for the 11.30am start, with a $2 entry.
Another option is the 9km Life Education Family Fun Ride a short cycle along the Whanganui River banks, with all proceeds going towards the Life Education Trust.
