Returning to school from their mid-term break yesterday morning, the members of the St George's School cross country team got to see the pride of place their North Island championship has taken in the trophy case.
Seven students attended the North Island Cross Country Championships in Taupo at the startof the holidays, and their collective efforts saw them awarded the Presidents Trophy as the best overall amongst the intermediate schools.
The points-based trophy is based off participation and the placings of all runners.
St George's received 65 points, ahead of Gisborne Intermediate on 34 points and Auckland's Glen Eden Intermediate with 24.
Individually, the school's runners who finished in the top 10 of their races were Libby Abbott in the Girls 12 and under, as well as Sophie Dinwiddie in the Girls 14 and under, both coming ninth.
