The season has opened for the Wanganui Croquet Club with the current membership of over 80 taking to their Victoria Park green on St Johns Hill last weekend.
A new club spokesman said while the club was established in 1921 to play the association game, the golf croquet version hasbecome more popular.
The 2014-15 season opener was well attended, including players from out of town, with pairs being the order of the day on the eight lawns.
Winning combinations were Dawn Reid and Malcolm Cox, Annette Winmill and Graeme McIntyre, Claire Birdling-Duncan and Cherie Hawkins
New members are welcome to try out either version of the game.
