The Bushy Park Trust, along with Homestead proprietor Dale Pullen, has closed Bushy Park Tarapuruhi to all volunteers as well as visitors, due to the Covid-19 risk.
Bushy Park Trust chairman Kevin Ross said they will re-engage volunteers as soon as they are able to.
"We recognise how important thisplace is to the local community and volunteers, and we are very sorry that people will not be able to visit over this period," Ross said.
Forest Sanctuary manager Mandy Brooke said without volunteers project work will slow down, but she will continue all monitoring and maintence for biosecurity of the sanctuary, plus management support for hihi, during the lockdown period.
"We will be taking good care of the core work for this place until we can reconnect volunteers and visitors with Bushy Park Tarapuruhi again," Brooke said.
