The cross-field rivalry of Wanganui Collegiate and Whanganui High School remains as keen as ever, given over 1500 spectators came to watch the big sports exchange on Wednesday.
With the town finally having a good run of a few days of sunny weather, conditions were great for the interschool challenge,consisting of three rugby matches, two football games and a senior boys basketball matchup.
Collegiate ran the table in the rugby fixtures with three comfortable wins.
The Under 15's were victorious 50-12, the 2nd XV were expansive in their 43-0 win, while in the main game the Collegiate 1st XV took it out 37-0.
The Collegiate 1st XV forwards laid the platform for their victory, preventing WHS from making the gains they needed, although the young men in green and yellow never gave up and pushed for points right to the end.
It was the opposite in the football as WHS 1st XI boys team won their game 4-2, showing good ability across all positions.
The 1st XI girls matchup was a 1-1 draw.
In the basketball game, Collegiate won 61-41, reversing the result of the game between the two teams in the local competition a week ago, which WHS won in extra time.
