The Mitre 10 Mega Wanganui Future Champions Trust funding round is now open and will close on September 30.
Trust chairwoman, Philippa Baker-Hogan is inviting Whanganui's high-achieving young athletes who have a need for financial support to further there sporting careers to consider applying by the end of September.
Baker-Hogansays applications are available via the website, http://www.futurechampionstrust.org or they can visit Sport Whanganui at Maria Place extension to pick up the relevant forms.
The Future Champions Trust (FCT) provides financial support for high-achieving Wanganui individuals to assist the advancement of their international sporting careers.
"As a local Whanganui business we are committed to giving back to our community and, along with Wanganui's Mitre 10 Mega Tough Kid event, we see the Future Champions Trust as a great vehicle to support up-and-coming champions, role models and future leaders in our community," Hayden Gibson, owner of Mitre 10 Mega Wanganui, the Trust's naming sponsor, said.
Sport Whanganui chief executive and trustee, Danny Jonas says Sport Whanganui see the FCT as a great opportunity to profile some of our outstanding young sports achievers as role models for younger children in Whanganui. The trust also fits perfectly in supporting Sport Whanganui's Promising Athlete Programme, which helps support identified sporting achievers with other support to assist their sporting performance.
The trust has now granted over $32,000 since its inception in 2014, thanks to the generous support of a number of small business's, individuals, the Leedstown Trust and Mitre 10 Mega Wanganui.
