Buyers line up for Mokai Gravity Canyon

Several buyers are in the running to take over Mokai Gravity Canyon

Tenders for Rangitikei adventure tourism attraction Mokai Gravity Canyon close next week and the current owner says he is happy with the interest shown.

The site closed and was put on the market in July when Director Alastair MacDonald said he wanted a buyer prepared to put money into upgrading the site.

Mr MacDonald said there were "about 5-6 very interested tenderers".

A decision would probably be made towards the end of the month and he hoped the new operator would be up and running by Christmas.

"It's all looking very positive," he said.

"They're not only wanting to buy Mokai but they're wanting to put the big holiday park in there as well. It'll be bigger and better."

Mr MacDonald started Mokai Gravity Canyon in 2000, 10 years after setting up Taupo Bungy which has a 52 per cent shareholding in the Rangitikei site.

He hoped its six staff would be kept on under the new owner.
