Another summer has departed as the final tournament for Bowls Wanganui Inc's season was played in very wet conditions on Saturday at Laird Park, so we may now look back on the summer's champions and high achievers.

Wanganui Bowling Club's triples team of skip Dianne Patterson, Lesley Bourke and Karen Hunt won the Bowls NZ National Club Championship Triples title in North Harbour, with Patterson and Bourke also coming fourth at the pairs finals.

They won the regional tournament to make it the national finals, while at those same club championship regionals the Aramoho Mixed Pairs team came second and the Wanganui East Women's Singles competitor was fourth.

In other women's highlights, the Wanganui East Bowling Club Premier 1 Interclub team were third at the Regional Interclub finals and the Aramoho interclub team came fourth in theirs.

Representative bowls saw the Senior Women's team win the Quad Series, while the Development team were third in their section.

The Wanganui Women's Masters team came second at the annual Hexagonal, which was held at the Central Levin Bowling Club.

On the men's scene, Aramoho's former world champion and Blackjacks assistant coach Peter Belliss teamed with Tauranga's Lance Tasker to come runnersup in the BLK Bowls NZ Men's Championship Pairs.

The Aramoho Men's Premier 2 Interclub team won the regional tournament and went on to come fifth in the national finals.

Wanganui BC's Premier 1 Interclub team were third at regionals.

In the representative bowls, the Wanganui Senior Men's team were third in the Arnott Shield, while the Development Men came second for the Duckett Trophy.

Wanganui was fifth at the Hexagonal, and at the National Intercentre they came second in section, making the quarterfinals where they were eliminated.

The 5-year and under Wanganui Men were sixth at their Hexagonal, while the Under 8 Intercentre Men came sixth in their section.

The Wanganui Men's Masters team came fifth in the annual hexagonal competition in Palmerston North.

In a correlation of the season points for all local players, Aramoho's Gavin Scrivener was the Harvey Marble Male Player of the Year, while Patterson received the prize for Top Woman Player of the Year.

Aramoho were awarded the top club for the entire season, men's and women's events combined, to receive the Bevan Tasker Shield.
