The Bowls Wanganui summer wrapped up on Saturday with the official closing day and trophy presentations for the season at the Wanganui Bowling Club.

Among the milestones for the local men's bowlers, the Aramoho BC team came third in division I of the Lion Foundation interclub national finals in Palmerston North.

The Castlecliff men's team came second on differential in division II, after both teams had won their respective Zone 4 regional playoffs in Wellington to make the nationals.

In the Bowls NZ Club Championship Zone 4 regionals the Pinker's Cary and Warrick were victorious and have qualified for the national finals, being held in Dunedin in June.

Robbie Robertson was second in the regional singles, as were Ken Mason, Bruce Fannin and Les Thurston in the triples.

The senior men were runners up at the hexagonal tournament, then reached the quarter-finals of the Bowls NZ national intercentre championships.
