The Shirley Cook Memorial tournament was coming right down to the final ends at the Wanganui Bowling Club yesterday afternoon.
In its 18th year, the two-day Anniversary Weekend pairs tournament had seen 28 teams attending, several from outside of Whanganui.
Playing three bowl pairs, the games on Saturday decided thetwo sections which the teams would be split into for the Sunday games, where the prize pool of $3000 would be decided.
At 5.30pm yesterday, Aramoho Bowling Club's Loralie Hawke and Wendy Black were going to be the likely winners of Section B, with a three team tussle for the minor placings coming down the last end of the last game.
Section A was still going and the Wanganui Chronicle will have the results later.
