A WANGANUI team won section A of the annual Shirley Cook Memorial Anniversary 3 Bowl Pairs Tournament here at the weekend.

Debbie Wildermoth (s) and Marie Klitchner, of the Wanganui East Club, survived two days of hectic bowls to share the $1000 first prize.

Second in section A was the Paraparaumu Beach pair Eileen Jones (s) and Janet O'Dwyer, while Gale Fashe (s) and Debbie Walford from the Paratutu club came third.

Section B was also claimed by a Wanganui-skipped pair with Lorraine Kendrick (s) and Edna George taking victory. Kendrick is from the Aramoho club, while George represents the Victoria club. Second was Ngaire Mears (s) and Heather Johnson from Gonville and the Wanganui East pairing of Denise Taylor (s) and Lisa Foley was third.

In section C, Waitara club bowlers Joy Clouston (s) and Jean Keith shared first with Helen Bethwaite (s) and Elaine Creed from Paraparaumu Beach in second. Third was Dot Collis (s) and Babs Hirini from the Central Levin club.
