Bomber's Nicola Metcalfe, aka Hexecutioner, meets a Paua Rangers blocker during the West Coast Bombers' season opener at Jubilee Stadium on Saturday.

It was a tough start to the season for the West Coast Bombers against the Paua Rangers at Jubilee Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

In the all-women's matchup, the Bombers had fought hard to only trail by five points heading into the final 14 minutes, however the visitors upped their game to win 158-123.

Emma Camden, aka Crystal Crush-Her, said the squad was a new lineup, mixing veterans with newbies who joined during last year's intake.

Next up will be two away games for the club's development team in April, while the Co-ed team will compete in May.

They will next host an all-day derby back in Whanganui on June 16.
