World renowned jazz club the Blue Orchid will be popping up in Whanganui next month.

Popular jazz club The Blue Orchid has embarked on their world tour and in a New Zealand first will be performing at an intimate venue in Whanganui next month.

Accompanied by a jazz quartet, six of the world's most talented Jazz performers will be showcasing a wide range of popular hits from chart-topping artists such as Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Al Greene and Etta James.

Event manager Christina Emery says "it's through old friends and various connections that this opportunity arose and because I absolutely adore Whanganui and want to showcase it to the world, I thought I'd see if I could bring a bit of the world to Whanganui, so here we are.

"I was fortunate enough to Skype into rehearsals on Sunday where I was completely overwhelmed by the calibre of the band and the performers.

"Their passion, endless energy and love for their craft is something that will leave a lasting impression on everyone who attends.
