Savages Bakery are owed $350 after a man cut himself while breaking into their building, and bled all over the scene.
Nathan Michael McGarry broke into the bakery between July 8 and 9 by smashing a window, the Whanganui District Court heard on Tuesday.
McGarry, who cut himself on the glass, rummaged through the store and "left blood throughout the scene", police prosecutor Sergeant Stephen Butler said.
"Several stock items had to be disposed of due to contamination."
McGarry pleaded guilty to burglary as well as an unrelated charge of breaching his prison release conditions.
