A biblical tale gets a modern-day Whanganui setting for Faith City School's production.
Second Chances is the famous story of Jonah and the whale, as told in the Book of Jonah. However, in this telling, Jonah is told to go and open a new church in Whanganui, and he doesn'twant to.
What happens next? You'll have to see the show to find out.
Faith City School principal Ruth McLeay said the entire school - all 145 children - were involved in the production.
"The main roles are played by Year 6 and older students. The junior children mostly do dancing," Mrs McLeay said.
The school puts on a production once every three years.
"We used to do a production every year, then it was every two years, and now it's every three years. It's an entire term of work, and we incorporate it into all our classroom work during that term," Mrs McLeay said.
"The kids love it. There's lots of singing, dancing and drama - it makes a change from the usual school subjects."
The production is a real team effort. Staff have written the script and directed it, and there's been a lot of parent involvement as well.
Second Chances will be performed at Faith City auditorium, Springvale Road, at 6.30pm on September 20 and September 22. Tickets are available from the school office - adults $7, children $2.50.
