A former running coach accused of committing indecent acts against a boy in Wanganui now faces 35 new charges.

Alan James Rubick, 61, first appeared in the Whanganui District Court on July 29 facing three charges of sexual violation and 13 of indecent assault. However those charges had to be removed as they were laid in the wrong jurisdiction.

He reappeared today facing 35 new charges, among them five of indecent assault on a boy aged under 12, 10 of indecent assault on a boy aged 12-16, three each of unlawful sexual connection with a male under 12 and a male aged 12-16, and 12 of doing an indecent act with or upon a boy.

He did not enter any pleas.

Police could not say whether these new charges related to the same 12-year-old alleged victim as those previously laid, or if more than one victim was involved. It was also unclear when the offending was alleged to have been committed.

Judge Phillip Moran remanded Rubick in custody for a post-committal conference on November 11.
