The old adage practice makes perfect proved correct after the running of the 24th annual Aranui Primary School Interschool Cross Country yesterday.
Hosted each year by Aranui School, this year the event attracted 28 primary schools from Hunterville in the south to Waverley in the north and all points betweenand as usual was run across farmland next to the school in Castlecliff.
Aranui School principal Mary-Ann Roberts said more than 400 children took part yesterday in four age group races for boys and girls. She also agrees practice makes perfect. "It ran very smoothly," Roberts said.
"We had 28 schools and 440 individual runners compete in the four age group races for boys and girls. It was a busy day for starters and those collating the results with between 120 and 130 children in each race. "Next year is our 25th, so we'll be making that event something special to mark the occasion," she said.
