Annette Main: Why I love Wanganui

As we celebrate all the things that make Wanganui a great place to live, we invite people to participate in our little questionnaire. Today, Mayor Annette Main shares her views

Age: 61

How long have you lived in Wanganui? Most of my life, came back in the 1980s after leaving as a teenager.

What attracted you to the region? Family, friends and a very real sense of belonging.

Who is the city/region's unsung hero? Sir Paul Callaghan. Sadly, we missed our chance to tap into his world of knowledge and wisdom.

What do you most like about living here? The stunning natural beauty of the surrounding landscape and the people. And the huge range of opportunities to take part in diverse activities.

If there was one thing you could change about Wanganui for the better, what would it be? Our optimism about our future as a community. We need to believe in ourselves, our resilience and our future.
