"I knew what I had to do and I tried so hard not to miss any gates," he said.
Jarvis said in his view, skiing was the best thing about the Special Olympics.
"I like competition and winning medals," he said. "I also like travelling with my team and having fun on the camps."
Special Olympics NZ said Jarvis had shown serious commitment to training in the lead up to Austria, with multiple gym sessions every week, as well as fitting swimming, basketball and regular ski camps around his part time job at Levin New World.
Now he's back home, Jarvis said he will continue with his training schedule. The busy athlete also competes in swimming and basketball, and is eyeing up his next event.
"My goals are to win medals in swimming at the National Summer Games in Wellington at the end of this year," he said. "I will also keep skiing, and will go to Snow Planet and to the week-long ski camp at Turoa."
Jarvis thanked everyone who helped with his training and the fundraising that enabled him to make the trip to Austria.
