It is more of a laid back meeting at Hatrick this evening following last Friday's enthralling Hatrick Classic paw wrestle.

Just to recap it was the Craig Roberts, Canterbury-trained Allen Ablett who got up in the very last bound to snatch the Group 1 520m event by a nose margin.

Bigtime Paddy had led for 519.5m of the race for his trainer Lisa Cole.

Allen Ablett is developing a strong affinity with the Hatrick track, having now won all four of his 520m assignments at the venue.

Two of those wins has been at the elite Group 1 level.

This evening's main 520m event is for the C3/4 graded greyhounds (Race 10).
It presents an interesting looking challenge.

Six months ago, the Cole-prepared Bigtime Jason would have started as a red favourite in an event of this nature.

He isn't quite the force he was back then, however he will be favoured to lead his rivals throughout in this class.

The claims owns by his kennelmates Bigtime Flyer and Bigtime Mia cannot be lightly dismissed.

Adding intrigue to the race is the presence of Cosmic Odette from the John McInerney kennels who is making her track debut here.

She is also currently down on her best form as seen by her moderate looking form line.
Don't be fooled by her lack of form.

Last April, she led the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks field all the way over 520m at the Addington Raceway.

Cosmic Odette is known for her early pace and that holds the key here.

If she uses that asset to lead her rivals into the first turn, then she can lead this field for a long way.

On the other paw, Nitehawk Rose is likely to settle back in the field from trap one.

She is likely to make up ground on the pace setters when heading down the back straight from where she can mount her powerful finishing burst for her trainer Bill Hodgson.

The open class sprinters will contest the Race 5, 305m dash, where last Friday's 305m winner Daisy Lara has to take a flyer from trap eight for Cole.

She tasted defeat from the same trap when sprinting over 375m at the Manawatu Raceway on Tuesday.

Bigtime Doug, Bear Inda Square and Allegro Lass are other Cole-prepared sprinters who can feature in this dash.
