The Colonel's getting ready to roll out his 11 secret ingredients in the River City next week with the reopening of the KFC store in Victoria Ave.
Finger lickin' aficionados have been waiting for three months for the takeaway to reopen and now, after a $1.5 million revamp, business resumes on
Thursday with 13 new staff boosting total staff numbers to 44.
The new store will boast an array of features, including booth seating and longer tables for family and group dining, an outdoor dining area and a new drive-through.
A new bar will serve the range of KFC's Krushers milkshake-styled drinks.
The store has been gutted and rebuilt along with a significant redesign of the building's exterior.
A spokeswoman for Restaurants Brands, which owns the franchise in New Zealand, said trading hours would not alter but the extra staff were needed because the store was bigger.
"Everywhere we've done these makeovers, we've seen an upswing in business so that means more staff," she said.
The local renovation is part of a $65 million programme the franchise has undergone across the country.
KFC is planning a grand opening celebration, including entertainment and special deals for Saturday, August 20.
The Wanganui store, which has been here for 36 years, is the 58th store transformed since 2004 and the fourth store so far this year.
The country's first KFC restaurant opened in Auckland in 1971 and, today, there are 98 stores and more than 2700 staff nationwide.
