Whanganui West Coast Bombers fail to fire at All Day Roller Derby tournament

All three Whanganui West Coast Bombers teams were roundly beaten at the All Day Roller Derby tournament on home ground at the Jubilee Stadium on Saturday.

In game one Whenua Fatales (Levin) scored 206 to West Coast Bombers' Women's A team's 98, although this was probably around the scoreline expected with the Fatales ranked quite a bit higher than the home side.

Game two produced a 161-141 win for Queenstown Roller Derby over West Coast Bombers' B side, Stealth Bombers. Queenstown are unranked having not yet completed the qualification for table ranking.

They need one more rankable game to qualify after last weekend's play. They will be pleased to have come away with a win, albeit against the lowest ranked team on the table. Because they are unranked, the result doesn't affect the Stealths' ranking.

Game three featured the New Zealand-wide exhibition team in support of the Rainbow community, Vagine Regime Aotearoa. They scored 206 to West Coast Bombers' Mixed Gender A team's 143. As an exhibition team, the VRA is ranked on the New Zealand Roller Derby rankings table, but their results against league teams affect only their own rating, not the ratings of those they play.

The final match of the day featured Lower Hutt men's team No City Skaters taking on the Northern Gentlemen's Skating Club (Upper North Island men's team). No City Skaters lost that encounter 162-148. Neither of the men's teams is ranked so far as neither has met the qualification.
