Youth representation in the district could be in for a shake up with a working party formed to review the Whanganui District Council's youth committee.
The committee was formed in 2006 but questions have recently arisen about its role, value for youth and how much funding it should receive.
The review was a condition of reinstating the youth committee's annual $45,000 budget in the council's draft long term plan.
Council's policy and governance manager Stephanie Macdonald-Rose said the party would look at a number of things, including the number of councillors, whether the committee structure is the right approach, alternative funding and whether it is advocating for the right things.
Five district councillors, Jenny Duncan, Hadleigh Reid, Kate Joblin, Josh Chandulal-Mackay and mayor Hamish McDouall, have been appointed to the working party alongside staff.
