Jethro Eriha pleaded not guilty to five "serious charges" when he appeared in the Whanganui District Court on Tuesday.
Eriha was charged with aggravated robbery, burglary, willful damage, manually assaulting a female and assaulting a person with a blunt instrument. A trial by jury was elected for the aggravated robbery and burglary charge and Eriha will appear for a case review hearing for those charges on October 24 at 2.15pm.
For the remaining charges a judge alone trial was elected. Eriha was order to reappear on November 21 at 2.15pm for a case review hearing and he will remain in custody.
Meanwhile, Amelia Ann Moris has been charged with shoplifting after she allegedly stole $121.42 worth of groceries from Pak n' Save in Whanganui.
Moris was due to appear in the district court this week but failed to turn up, and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
