Sarjeant on the Quay is offering two special events over the next few days.
On July 31 at 4.30pm there will be a performance of acoustic covers by Aaron Gash on lead vocals and guitar, Tim Archer on guitar, ukulele and back-up vocals and Stefan Bourke providing percussion on the cajon.
Music includes songs by Yusuf Islam [Cat Stevens] and Billy Joel to newer songs by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam.
This is part of a series of performances under the banner of Musicians for the Sarjeant, a fundraising group for the Gallery's redevelopment project.
On August 2 at 7.30pm there will be a screening of 12 short films, collectively titled I am an open window. Six of the films were shot by Whanganui artist Joanna Paul in the 1970s. These are interspersed with six new short films by Rachel Shearer, Sonya Lacey, Nova Paul, Miranda Parkes, Shannon Te Ao and the collective Popular Productions - all of which were commissioned to respond to a series of Ms Paul's poetry.
