A small fire put out by the occupant of a Whanganui home in the early hours of Sunday morning restarted hours later before firefighters were called.
Firefighters were called to the Brunswick Rd property at 8am to put out the small fire, which senior station officer Doug Bennett said burned a "wee hole in the floor".
There was "minimal" damage.
"Maybe the message for this one is if people do have a fire and they think they've put it out, it might be wise to call the fire brigade anyway, and they'll come to check it for them," he said. "It can sneak into walls and spaces that you don't think about."
